Mineral de Pozos, known for many years as a "ghost town" with an abundance of ruins and abandoned mines, has recently been rediscovered . In addition to the mystical surroundings and colorful vistas available to artists and photographers, Mineral de Pozos offers other activities for day and overnight visitors at Hotel Posada de las Minas.

There is also shopping at Zaragoza Plaza, located just a block from the hotel, and numerous other tiendas (shops) featuring a variety of replicas of prehispanic musical instruments and an assortment of locally crafted jewelry. Another treat is the local artisans cooperative, located across the street from the hotel and run by the women of Mineral de Pozos. The cooperative sells beautiful hand-made Mexican dolls in a variety of regional dresses.

Besides the many talented local artisans, Mineral de Pozos is now attracting a diverse group of foreign artists, photographers and sculptors, who exhibit their art at Hotel Posada de las Minas and at in galleries located throughout Mineral de Pozos.
